Otgontenger University
Established in 1991, Otgontenger University stands as Mongolia’s pioneering private institution, boasting a rich legacy of thirty-three years in delivering education in accordance with legal frameworks. Currently, the university comprises three structural schools, eight departments, eighteen bachelor’s degree programs, eleven master’s degree programs, and two doctoral degree programs.
It is therefore committed to maintaining the highest standards, Otgontenger University places a premium on the quality of educational services provided to its students. The institution ensures internal quality assurance, submission of its course offerings to evaluation by both national and international accreditation and certification bodies. This commitment reflects the university’s dedication to excellence and the fulfillment of its societal responsibilities.
In a notable stride towards sustainable development, Mongolia joined the Global Association of Green Universities (GUPES) in 2018, recognizing Otgontenger University for its implementation of the “Education for Sustainable Development” project. Collaborating with the German Cooperation Association (GIZ) and the Swiss Development Agency; the university has actively integrated sustainability into its curriculum and plans.
Further showcasing its commitment to academic advancement, Otgontenger University actively participated in the ERASMUS+ C3QA and ARROW projects in 2019, achieving commendable success in the internal quality assurance of the “Educational Studies” doctoral program. The university’s administration and management team earned accreditation from a body comprising of national and international experts.
In a groundbreaking development, Otgontenger University secured the role of national coordinator for the “Increasing the Employment of Graduates by Introducing Work-Based Learning in the Higher Education System of Mongolia” project under the European Union’s ERASMUS+ project in the academic years between 2021-2022.
Adding to its international collaborations, a team of professors specializing in European studies initiated the “Increasing Knowledge About the EU by Teaching the EUIF of the European Union” project pertaining the Jean Monnet program of ERASMUS in 2022.
In recognition of its excellence, Otgontenger University achieved the 8th rank among Mongolian universities and secured the top position amongst all private universities in 2023. This acknowledgment underscores the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic distinction and its important role in the shaping of the educational landscape in Mongolia.
